What is a flood cut?

What is a flood cut and why is it needed?

When it comes to commercial properties there are some health issues to consider after a flood. Water from the outdoors has the potential to carry bacteria and harmful contaminates. It is for this reason that the insurance company requires that any material that is porous be removed by demolition.

A flood cut is to assure that drywall that has soaked up contaminated flood water is disposed of. The cut has to start twelve inches above the flood line. In the case of this building we had removed between three and four feet of drywall because of how high the flood line was.
